We are Christians, or disciples of Jesus, gathered in a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) or “PCUSA.” Presbyter means “elder”. Presbyterian describes our form of governance by an assembly of elders. In practice, that means we make decisions together. Members serving on Session, our Board of Elders, work with committees and staff to determine how we manage our worship, adult and youth education, property, and the other resources under our control.
This congregation is actively engaged in our denomination and in serving our community of San Bernardino. Some members were raised in a Presbyterian community, but more have origins and paths that have wandered through different traditions, including Roman Catholic, evangelical and other “mainline” Protestant traditions (Episcopal, Methodist, Lutheran, United Church of Christ, etc), non-Christian spiritualities, or non-religious philosophies.
We often find questions more revealing than “answers.” The most common question you will hear asked is “Where have you experienced God in ________?” This question is asked at the end of worship, in study, about our daily lives, and in meetings regarding the business of the church.
Just as the early church, and as the body of Christ, we celebrate, affirm, and welcome the rich diversity of all of God’s people in our common life. We invite people to journey with us for as long as benefits them without any pressure to join as a member.
We ask new members to find ways to “Be in Christ, Be Loved, and Be of Use.” In this, we are sustained by a balance of giving and receiving the love that every person deserves as a beloved child of God. There are many ways to experience joy while serving our neighbors.
Information about our denomination, theology, social justice positions, and work in the world, is at Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
We experiment and explore with new forms of worship, service, and education, and enjoy traditions treasured by the congregation.
